PMCC (4th Watch) of San Diego Celebrates Its 26th Anniversary and Thanksgiving

June 9, 2019
The light breeze of the slightly warm Sunday afternoon matches the warmth and yet lightness of the long-sleeved ankle length burgundy dresses of the ushers and greeters standing by the red-carpeted entrance as they welcome the steady arrival of guests by their equally warm smiles and greetings. The night before and early in the morning up to the very last minute before the doors were opened, members of the Pentecostal Missionary CHURCH of CHRIST (4th Watch) of San Diego buzzed about the venue like busy bees, each to his and her own assignment – audio-video-lights set-up, musical instrument set-up, stage design, guests sign-in, children’s accommodation, hair and make up for dancers – just to name a few. Everyone is gearing up to celebrate God’s work in their midst for the past twenty-six years. The day has come after months of preparations, hours of intercessions, contacting and inviting guests, and days of fasting for the success of the event.

At exactly 3:30 PM the pre-main event started with the showing of videos that showcased different ministries of the church and personal testimonies of some church members. A few minutes after 4:00 PM, an opening billboard, followed by welcome announcements in English and Spanish, kicked off the main program. The first choir piece of the San Diego Praise Chorale then soared in the air, filling up the venue with melodious music as they sang Unstoppable by Lifeway Worship, a song that speaks of God’s mighty power and gentle, loving work in the lives of His people. After the choir, a voiceover welcomed the talented and charismatic host of the event, no other than Pastor Joseph Concepcion, the senior pastor of the PMCC (4th Watch) of San Diego. He welcomed everyone in attendance, cracking up jokes but stressing the goodness and grace of the center of the gathering, no other than God who has called to His people to His saving grace, sustaining them by His might and mercies all these twenty-six years. Pastor Joseph then called on stage Bro. Kenneth Ines, PMCC (4th Watch) of Southbay’s associate pastor, who beautifully led the Praise and Worship together with the San Diego Praise and Worship team. Freedom by Jesus Culture, Do It Again by Elevation Worship, and So Will I by Hillsong United were lifted up unto the Lord in honor and worship of who He is and His glorious work in the midst of His people. During an instrumental part of the singing, Bro. Virgil Dago, pastor of the PMCC (4th Watch) of Los Angeles passionately led a meditative reading from Psalm 29, which added beauty and emphasis on the worship experience. The singing was then followed by the invocation ministered by Sis. Marify Anselmo, pastor of the PMCC (4th Watch) of West Covina, which was then followed by a video presentation that featured some of the ministries and outreach programs of the church. A child dedication then ensued led, then Pastor Genalyn Concepcion, senior pastor of the PMCC (4th Watch) of San Diego, delivered a speech that featured the missions and goals of the church. She then ushered in the two dance presentations of the children, who did an excellent job dancing to 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman, and Everybody Everywhere by Jana Alayra. A pictorial that captured the beautiful celebration followed the children’s dance, after which another dance was witnessed by the audience – the pride and joy of the PMCC (4th Watch) of San Diego – the San Diego Youth Dance Group! They beautifully and amazingly danced to Speak The Name by Koryn Hawthorne. The dance group received an standing ovation, a small and yet well-appreciated nod to their weeks and long hours of hard work rehearsing and perfecting their artistic, solid yet smooth moves, and heart stopping stunts. After the dance group, three beautiful choir renditions filled up every nook and cranny of the Jacobs Center hall: first was PMCC (4th Watch) of Los Angeles’ He Is Worthy by Christ Tomlin, second was PMCC (4th Watch) of Southbay’s Break Every Chain by Jesus Culture, and the last was PMCC (4th Watch) of San Diego’s Lord of Host by Lifeway Worship conducted by Bro. Dennis Ferriol. The choir numbers blessed everyone in attendance, stirring them to stand up and sing along with the singers, worshiping the name of the Lord. The praise offerings were followed by Sis. Miracle Ferriol’s video introduction to the guest speaker, her father and the North America District Coordinator, Bishop Jonathan S. Ferriol. Bishop Jonathan then anointedly and clearly delivered a sermon that touched on the spirit of the times and the role of the church in relation to it. He gave the following four points: 1) the church is God’s representative on earth (2 Corinthians 5:20); 2) the church is God’s letter (2 Corinthians 3:2); 3) the church is God’s force of moral goodness (2 Thessalonians 2:5-6); and 4) the church is the community where God is adding the saved ones (Acts 2:47). The message was well-received by the audience. Dr. Alma Van Nice, one of the guests, said she even recorded it so that she can send it to the guest she was seated next to who had to leave early. After the message, many came up to the front to be prayed over and accept the Lord Jesus in their hearts. After the altar call, the members of the PMCC (4th Watch) San Diego then led the giving of Thanksgiving Offering, an annual tradition of the church where a token of thanksgiving is offered to God as an expression of recognizing all that He has done in the lives of His children. Family by family, individual per individual, the church joyously placed in the offering receptacle their generous gifts to the Lord, which will financially bless and advance the missionary work of the Lord Jesus Christ. As the offerings were being offered, the PMCC (4th Watch) San Diego band played the song Well Done by The Afters. PMCC (4th Watch) of Las Vegas’ Pastor Levi Baniaga then led the closing prayer and Pastor Joseph Concepcion announced that the event has concluded. The guests then went to the reception places, where they not only feasted on good dinner but also talked about the blessings of the event.

Overall, the 26th Anniversary of the PMCC (4th Watch) of San Diego was a resounding success. Many people were able to see what passionate and dedicated disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ can do. It was a celebration that befits the commemoration of an entire year of fruitful service and an event to usher in and mark another year of life in the Lord. The pastors, elders, and committee leaders of the PMCC (4th Watch) of San Diego know that it is only by the grace of God they are able to continue in their service, and that their confidence for more fruitful and successful years of service to God is also by His grace alone! Congratulations, PMCC (4th Watch) of San Diego! Happy 26th Anniversary and God bless you more and more!
